Updates on Elementary School Reopening Possibilities for the Fall
Dear Crocker Farm Families,
We hope everyone is staying safe and as cool as possible right now.
The district staff have done an analysis of the spaces available for classrooms in each of the school buildings, assuming there is social distancing, decent ventilation in each teaching space, etc. Based on this analysis, for the Wildwood, Fort River and Pelham Elementary Schools, there is sufficient space in the buildings for all of the projected students for the fall. However, there is not enough space in Crocker Farm for all projected students, so the district leadership has proposed that the Crocker Farm Fifth and Sixth graders have their classrooms in the Amherst Regional Middle School instead. All of these plans are, of course, contingent on whether schools open at all in the fall.
Here is a link to the presentation on school spaces given at the School Committee meeting this week, as well as a link to Amherst Media’s recording of the meeting.
We will continue to update you as the plans proceed.
