Crocker Farm Summer 2017 Read-a-Thon
Dear Families,
Would you like to participate in a program to encourage your child to keep reading over the summer, while raising money for Crocker Farm? The Crocker Farm Summer Read-a-Thon is the answer!
Here’s how it works:
Help your child set a summer reading goal—a number of books to read over the summer.
Next, help your child find sponsors that will pledge an amount of money per each book read (25¢, 50¢,$1, $2, $5 and so on). No pledge is too small or too large. Parents and guardians can of course sponsor their own children and also pool together to sponsor a grade at smaller amounts such as 5¢ or 10¢ per book. If you are unable to find sponsors, PGO Chair Hallie Hughes and volunteer Amanda Robertson can help when your child returns the materials in the fall.
Encourage your child to read over the summer and help him/her keep track of books read by entering the titles in the reading log. Plus, all books read to your child also count!
Children can participate in the Jones Library and/or Munson Library Summer Reading Programs, and other reading programs as well—just fill out all of the book forms at the same time.
At the end of the summer, help your child collect the pledges from the sponsors.
In the beginning of the school year, you will receive information as to how to return the money and reading logs to the PGO.
In our last Read-a-Thon in 2015, over 100 participants raised $3,000-plus for our school! This year, funds raised by the PGO will directly benefit students in the form of much-needed classroom materials, general school supplies, snacks, teacher stipends and more.
