Traveling “Recess Van” for K-6 Students
The Amherst Hurricanes Athletic Boosters and Amherst Recreation are teaming up to provide a “Recess Van,” during the lunch/recess break between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. from January 11 to January 29, 2021. The 30-minute activities will be held from approximately 11:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Where:
Mondays: Amherst Regional Middle School
Tuesdays: Mill River Recreation Area
Wednesdays: Butternut Farms
Thursdays: The Boulders Apartments
Fridays: Groff Park
This is a voluntary, free program and doesn’t require any registration, other than the children’s names, grade and school, if not homeschooled the day of the “recess.” It’s geared toward students K-6, who are homeschooled, or not otherwise expected to be in class at that time. There is not any transportation provided. This is a structured, outdoor play activity led by staff and volunteers for the purpose of in-person, social engagement and fun. It is expected that children will only attend if they are in good health, not under quarantine due to Covid health guidelines, and will wear a mask at all times.
