PGO Crocker Farm – Your Input Needed – PGO Survey for 2023-2023 activities

Published on 2023-04-28 by pgoupdates Community News

Dear Crocker Farm Community,

The PGO needs your input! Please fill out this survey to tell us what you think PGO should focus on in the next year, and to let us know how you would like to help. We are looking for a new Co-Chair to replace me for the 2023-2024 school year – this person will work with the team of Katharine Waggoner (Co-Chair), Richard Kellerhals (Treasurer), and an incredible community of volunteers who show up and get things done. If you have ever thought about a leadership role with PGO, this would be a great year to say yes!

We are also looking for volunteers to work with Fungai Tichawangana to launch a new PGO website and a weekly email to the Crocker Farm community. Are you one of those people who always knows what is going on in Amherst? Do you have translation skills that would help PGO communicate in multiple languages? Do you have ideas about how PGO can be a better resource to the Crocker Farm community? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please let us know on the survey!

Stay tuned for more information about a Volunteer Day to improve the Crocker Farm playground on May 7th, and a chance to support Field Day on June 8th & 9th. Please also see answers to a few commonly asked questions below.

Take care,

Jennie
PGO Co-Chair

What is the PGO again?

The Crocker Farm Parent & Guardian Organization (PGO) is a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support the Crocker Farm school and organizes fun, community-building events for Crocker families. The PGO is run entirely by volunteers and funded 100% by Crocker Farm families and friends.

What does a PGO Co-Chair do?

We usually have two PGO Co-Chairs who collaborate with the Crocker Farm teachers and administration on PGO efforts to support the school, plan/organize events and volunteers, and talk with families about the needs and interests of the school community. The Co-Chairs manage the Crocker Farm PGO email and MailChimp accounts. Co-Chairs may take the lead on a fundraising effort, like Month of Giving or the bulb sale. Co-Chairs plan and host two community-wide PGO meetings each year.

How much time does it take to be Co-Chair?

This position usually requires about 1 to 2 hours per week, mostly communicating and coordinating with people over email. More time may be required for planning and participating in special events.

How will I be supported if I volunteer for this?

You will work closely with Katharine and Richard, who have a calendar, financial budget/spreadsheet, fundraising templates, and details on how things were done in previous years. It is also important to know that you don’t actually have to DO everything yourself! Many Crocker Farm families volunteer to lead and staff events like the Coat Swap, Book Swap, Movie Night, and Volunteer Days.

What if I do want to volunteer, but I don’t want to be Co-Chair?

There are many ways to help! You can volunteer to organize an event, to lead a fundraiser, or to champion a new idea that you have for the PGO. Please fill out the survey and let us know what you are interested in doing!
