Thoreau Bicentennial Statewide Read: Events at Jones Library

The Thoreau Bicentennial Statewide Read is being held during 2017, and all towns in the state are being encouraged to read a work by Thoreau and host programming about the continued relevance of his writings and legacy.

For Adults:

April 6 & May 11: Speakers will present programs on Thoreau.
May & June: Special Collections will host an exhibit about Thoreau’s influence on Clifton Johnson and Robert Francis.

For Kids:
April 20: A visit from Mass Birds of Prey, talking about rescue and rehabilitation along with a story about Thoreau.
May 1: Story & Play will feature stories of nature and Thoreau.

For Teens:
April 20: Come make greeting cards inspired by Thoreau and plants.
